The emphasis of this program is on participation and developing a healthy lifestyle as opposed to the competitive aspects of running.
The Children's Half Marathon is a free program open to any children in Lee County, Alabama who would like to complete a Half Marathon over a period of several weeks. Children are encouraged to start in the Fall and run or walk about 1 mile per week. On Race Day, kids will need to bring proof that they have run 12.5 miles. They will all run the last 0.6 mile together and finish at the Big Finish Line . All kids participating will receive a medal and a t-shirt. Parents can participate with their child for $10.00.
Children and parents outside of Lee County Alabama are welcome to participate for $10.00.

35 minutes of running three to four times a week will result in improved physical fitness. Running strengthens the heart and lungs and the major muscles of the body.
