Club Code of Conduct

  • Show respect for fellow club members at all times.
  • Show respect and appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to help the club and/or event(s).
  • Do not yell, taunt, or threaten physical violence towards other members of the club, a volunteer or event spectator. Members with a criminal history of violence or with a legal restraining order against them by another member may be barred from membership and participation in all club activities.
  • Do not use abusive or vulgar language, or make racial, ethnic or gender-related slurs or derogatory comments at club-hosted events.
  • Do not make unwanted sexual or physical contact with other members. Members found to be listed on a sex offender registry, convicted of a sex crime, or caught having, creating, or distributing child pornography will be immediately barred from membership and all participation in club activities.
  • Abide by race rules and engage in fair competition, which includes anti-doping compliance, no course cutting, or other means of gaining a competitive advantage that is considered cheating when participating in club races or other races where you may represent the club by wearing a club-branded singlet, shirt, uniform, etc. 
  • Always report violations of the Member Code of Conduct policy to the Board in writing.
  • When representing the Club, no Club member shall not put forth their individual interests before the Club’s interests. A Race Director or any other volunteers representing the Club, shall not accept money or other remuneration from organizers or sponsors of a race is an amount exceeding $150 related to that individual’s Club related activities.
  • This list is meant to be illustrative, not exhaustive. The Board reserves the right to make a code of conduct violation for behavior it determines to be out of alignment with the Club.

Infractions of the code of conduct may result in the following actions: 

1st violation – written or a verbal warning to the member 

2nd violation – 6 month suspension from all Club events and races

3rd violation – action to be solely determined by the board including but not limited to membership revocation and/or event/race barring for a set amount of time or indefinitely 

 

The Board reserves the right to deviate from the violation steps noted above and immediately issue discipline measures listed in the 3rd violation, or others as determined by the Board. In the event a membership is revoked and/or event/race barring occurs, the member forfeits all fees paid to the Club. 

There is no appeals process for members who have been found to be in violation of the code of conduct.
