Tara Taylor is a certified running coach (Road Runners Club of America) and fitness instructor (American Council on Exercise). Although Tara has been running for 20 plus years, has completed 4 full marathons, 28 half marathons and countless 10 and 5ks she hasn’t always been a runner. Prior to becoming a runner when asked about running she would respond “I don’t run unless someone is chasing me and I don’t give anyone a reason to chase me.” She started running while living in Virginia but her real running break through came when she moved to Dayton, OH and was asked to run with the Kilimanjaro runners. This was no ordinary group of runners, everyone in the group was black just like her! Tara joined the group which ran 10 miles each Sunday during the off season. The pace at which they ran seemed like a sprint, it was hard and she wanted to quit but every week she kept showing up. “You know what they say, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” With the support of the group she became stronger, a “real runner” and completed her first full marathon. It was now time for her to give back, to pay it forward.
Her chance came when she was given the opportunity to become the director for a newly formed and innovative youth running program for inner city youth in Cleveland OH. Under her leadership the We Run This City Youth Marathon program went from serving 80 kids to over 1,000.
Tara runs to keep healthy, challenge herself, explore the world on foot (Half Fanatic #7091 pursuing the half in 50 states challenge) and to keep sane. Tara enjoys seeing both friends and clients achieve their fitness goals. Whether you are a beginner, weekend warrior or established athlete she can help you achieve a PR with customized running plans.
