I know that running in and volunteering for any Purple Butterfly Running Club activity including but not limited to organized group runs, social events, races, race day activities, seminars, and classes are potentially hazardous activities, which could cause injury or death. I will not participate in any club organized events, group training runs or social events; unless I am medically able, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform all activities associated with the club and am in good health. I agree to abide by all rules established by the club, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for not adhering to the Purple Butterfly Running Club Code of Conduct. I attest that I have read the Purple Butterfly Code of Conduct and agree to abide by it. I assume all risks associated with participating in all club activities which may include: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road or greenway, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Purple Butterfly Running Club all club sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation with the club, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record for any legitimate promotional purposes for the club. **A minor is any female 15 years old and under, all minors must be accompanied by an adult at all PBRC activities. Purple Butterfly Running Club Code of Conduct •Members shall refrain from using negative or derogatory language when interacting with teammates, other running clubs and opponents when at club workouts, activities, social events, clinics/seminars, races, or via the Internet in public forums, and social media sites. •Members shall respect the age, religion, ethnic background, gender and sexual orientation and political views of all members. •Members are expected to interact with all persons in a manner that avoids behavior that could be construed as discrimination or harassment. •Members should acknowledge the accomplishments and efforts of others, encouraging all teammates and opponents to excel while keeping in mind you represent the club as an ambassador to the community. •Members are expected to adhere to all rules and regulations of races and events we participate in as a group as well as an individual. •Members are expected to follow proper runner/trail etiquette during weekly runs and races we participate in as an organization. •All members should take equal responsibility for ensuring that no runners are left behind at the back of the group and should take turns in going to the back of the field for slower runners. •All members should wear fluorescent vests or other suitable clothing to ensure they can be clearly seen when training during the dark or in dimly lit areas. •All members shall obey all traffic laws while training and not take unnecessary risks with traffic. •Prior to training and events, members should be attentive and limit/omit outside conversations when club announcements are made. •All minors (anyone under the age of 15) must be accompanied by an adult at all times •Members are responsible to ensure that this Code of Conduct is followed and are expected to report any inappropriate actions or behavior to a member of the PBRC board. Code of Conduct Violation Violations of the Code of Conduct are to be made in writing and presented to the PBRC President, who shall investigate the circumstances of the allegations and report the findings to the Board of Directors. Any violation by a club member or members of any portion of the code of conduct will be brought to the attention of the Board of Directors. Any act that is determined to be Detrimental to the PBRC’s goals and mission not specifically covered in the Code of Conduct will be considered a violation. The Board, in its discretion, may fashion a remedy depending on the severity of the Code of Conduct violation. Sanctions may include, but are not limited to, a verbal warning, a written warning, referral of the matter to proper law enforcement, or the cancellation of PBRC membership. The Board shall allow the accused member an opportunity to be heard, either in writing or in person, prior to any cancellation of any PBRC membership. COVID-19 Waiver I understand the hazards of the novel coronavirus (“COVID-19”) and I am familiar with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), World Health Organization (“WHO”), and my local government’s guidelines regarding COVID-19. I acknowledge and understand that the circumstances regarding COVID-19 are changing from day to day and that, accordingly, the CDC, WHO and local government guidelines are regularly modified and updated and I accept full responsibility for familiarizing myself with the most recent updates. ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK. I acknowledge and understand the following: 1. Participation includes possible exposure to and illness from COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness and death does exist; 2. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks related to illness from COVID- 19, even if arising from the negligence or fault of the Released Parties; and 3. I hereby knowingly assume the risk of injury, harm and loss associated with the Activity, including any injury, harm and loss caused by the negligence, fault or conduct of any kind on the part of the Released Parties.
