The goal of the Atlanta Marathon Club is to help those who want to run a 26 mile 385 yard race and to celebrate those who have. Our weekend meetings/runs are structured as a "meet up" and should be expected to be unsupported and unsupervised. In many cases we will have water coolers at the "meet up" location and will give advice, share tips and discuss the morning's running trail/route.
We generally start the year training from January through March, targeting some of the March half marathons. The Publix Georgia Half Marathon is usually the target race for most of us, but there are always a few training for other races as well. Running a spring half marathon is not only a great goal; you can build on it and be ready to train for one of the many fall marathons across the region, country or world.?
The first Saturday after the Peachtree Road Race in July is usually our first "fall" run as many of us target fall marathons. There are usually runners training for several different marathons, but some of the most popular are: Chicago, Marine Corps, New York City and Savannah. There are usually some training for some fall half marathons as well. We train early to beat as much heat as possible and start running at sunrise or earlier.
We welcome all serious runners to join us for free, so long as you sign up via the this form and sign the online waiver. That said, we receive no other compensation or fees other than the donations via this sign up. Donations are not required, but certainly appreciated:) All funds go back into the club for website maintenance, running equipment and running/safety supplies. If we have extra funds, we do some of our favorite runs such as the chocolate milk run and the beer run!
