About the Program
The Winter 8K Training Program runs from Feb. 6 through April 9. It is a beginner training program for adults of all ages and abilities that will train you to run an 8 kilometer (4.97mile) race. The program will build your endurance with a combination of walking and running over time. In addition, the program will offer the benefits of improved cardiovascular fitness, reduced adverse health factors, safe training methods, and fun! The target graduation race is the Springburst 8K on April 9, 2016 at Greenbelt Park. *Registration for this race is not included in the program fee.*.
The program consists of two formal workouts per week, Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, during which all participants will train as a group with the head coaches. Participants are encouraged to run on their own or with a scheduled club run for one additional day during the week.
The cost of the training program is $40. In addition, all participants are required to join the Prince George’s Running Club if not already a member of the club. The training program fee covers the cost of a technical running shirt and group activities. All registered participants will receive a code to register for the 8k graduation race on April 9.
