Coach Amelia first started running in 2007 and completed her first 5K that April leading up to her first half marathon in Louisville, KY in 2008. She managed to keep up with her running while completing her MBA overseas (while also seeing Haile Gebrselassie complete the Dubai Marathon in 2008). Her first race upon moving to Washington, DC was the 2011 Cherry Blossom 10 Miler with her mom (also a runner, and the reason she got into cycling).
Since then Amelia has moved to Alexandria, VA where she joined and eventually became president of the Kingstowne Striders, the RRCA Club for Alexandria, Fairfax County, VA. Her first time being coached was by long-time Kingstowne Striders Coach Jim Miller in 2013 which she believes led to her half marathon PR in March 2014 of 2:27:17. Also in 2014 she completed the DC Triathlon Club’s New Triathlete Program leading to three sprint triathlons in 2014 and two Olympic triathlons in 2015 - as well as knocking off 0:26:45 from her previous marathon time in that year’s Marine Corps Marathon (her MCM time is 5:32:37!). In February 2016 she completed her Level 1 RRCA Coaching Certification and her first time coaching was summer 2016 for the Kingstowne Striders summer track workouts.
I link to my race results below to show you I am no all-star runner. I often meet fellow runners who call themselves “too slow” who end up being faster than me!
As my bridesmaids said at my wedding... "As the kid who often skipped gym class or traded it for a business elective... we're so glad you found, marathons, or triathlons, or whatever it is you do for fun because you sure do enjoy it!" I certainly never thought I'd be a two-time marathoner or a triathlete, so I can't wait to hear what I can help you achieve!

Your Initial Session where we meet face to face for 30 minutes and discuss your run/walk history and experience and goals. Come dressed for some light jogging. If me coaching you seems like a good fit I'll write up a training program that will kick-off at our next one-on-one session.
A follow up in person One-on-One Session to discuss progress in the training program. I'll run/walk with you and answer any questions. Duration 1 hour.
