Join us for the Live Your Best Life Sensory Walk & 5K, an inclusive charity run and walk in Iowa City designed for participants of all abilities. Whether you're a seasoned runner chasing a new PR, a casual walker enjoying the morning with friends, or a family looking for a fun community event, this is for you.
Hosted by Systems Unlimited, this event supports people living with disabilities and mental health needs across Eastern Iowa. For 55 years, Systems Unlimited has worked to remove barriers and create opportunities so the people we serve can live healthy, active, and fulfilling lives.
Event Details
Participants can choose between two welcoming options:
5K Run/Walk – A scenic course perfect for runners, walkers, and anyone looking to challenge themselves. For this run, you will experience the sensory stations on the 1-Mi route, but primarily will have a station free route to focus on your run and enjoy the scenary.
1-Mile Sensory Walk – A relaxed, accessible walk with sensory stations placed throughout the route designed to engage the senses and ensure everyone can experience the pride of reaching the finish line.
The event takes place at the beautiful Terry Trueblood Recreation Area, one of Iowa City's most scenic outdoor spaces. After crossing the finish line, join us at the post-race celebration inside the Terry Trueblood Lodge for music, snacks, community vendors, and fun photo opportunities.
Whether you run, walk, roll, or cheer, you’ll be part of a meaningful event that celebrates inclusion, community, and living your best life.

Virtual 5K Option:
Not able to attend the event in person? You can still participate in our Virtual Iowa 5K from anywhere.
Complete your run or walk anytime between November 7–14, 2026, and submit your time to be part of the event.
Event Shirts
This year’s shirt design was created by members of the Monticello Day Program at Systems Unlimited. The artwork was inspired by what they see, experience, and enjoy during Walking Club, our 12-week training program that helps the people we serve prepare for race day.
Shirt Options
Your registration includes a short sleeve event t-shirt, with the option to upgrade:

Participants may also choose to opt out of receiving an event shirt, which will reduce the registration cost by $3.
Shirt Deadline:
To guarantee your shirt and preferred size, please register by August 14.
After August 14, shirts will be available first come, first served while supplies last. We do our best to estimate sizes when placing our order, but once inventory is gone we will not be placing a second order.
