Mason represents the very heart of the Cape Fear community's rich agricultural heritage. Having worked alongside his grandfather and uncle on their family farm for a decade, Mason balance his schoolwork, extracurriculars, FFA club, and church involvement with long days out in the fields.
"There is a huge sense of personal satisfaction and Colt Pride when you produce a crop from start to finish, and it's pretty awesome to hire your friends and sisters to work for you each summer. The responsibility of farming has made me different than other kids my age, but it has truly shaped me as a person."
— John Mason CanadyThrough his active involvement with the Cape Fear FFA Chapter and his technical studies at Fayetteville Technical Community College, Mason is using his education to maintain and repair heavy equipment, while running his own local sweet corn business. His lifelong dream is carrying on the family tradition as a full-time farmer.
