Information
Whether you’re chasing a personal record or just starting your running journey, there is a place for you at the Greater Buffalo Track Club (GBTC). Since our founding in 1988, we have believed that running is better together. As a New York State not-for-profit corporation and a proud member of both the USATF and the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), we provide runners of all skill levels the opportunity to train with others of comparable interests and abilities.
Our members stay active through weekly track workouts and a variety of club-sponsored races. Our flagship event is the Grand Island Half Marathon, held annually at Beaver Island State Park, but we also host a specialized 1-mile track race and a 5K cross-country event. Beyond the competition, the GBTC is built on a foundation of camaraderie. We enjoy a lively social calendar, including our annual club party and regular meetings where members share stories, food, and drink while helping to set the vision for the club’s future.
We don’t just run the streets of Western New York; we support them. Our members are the heart of the local racing scene, volunteering to plan and stage our own events and supporting major regional races like the Buffalo Marathon. Since our inception, we have remained deeply committed to philanthropy, donating to vital organizations such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Special Olympics, Glory Be to Kids, the Berkshire Farm Center for Youth, and the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce Youth Ambassador Program.
We look forward to welcoming members, both old and new, to our upcoming events. Join us as we continue our legacy of running, community, and service.
