In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Katy 5K Run and 1-Mile Kids Run/Walk (collectively, the "Event"), I, the participant (or parent/guardian of a minor participant), hereby agree to the following:
1. Acknowledgment of Risk & Medical Fitness: I understand that running or walking in all Event distances and activities is a potentially hazardous activity. I assume all risks associated with this event, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, weather conditions, and the conditions of the paved trails and pathways (including uneven surfaces or debris). I agree to abide by all decisions of any race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run.
2. Release of Liability: I hereby release, waive, and forever discharge the Athlete Care Association (ACA), the Event organizers, sponsors, volunteers, agents, and RunSignUp (collectively, the "Released Parties"), from any and all claims, liabilities, or causes of action for death, personal injury, or property damage of any kind arising out of my participation in this event. This release is binding on me, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assignees.
3. Specific Event Policies:
- No Strollers: For safety reasons, strollers are not permitted on the course at this time.
- Minors: Children aged 8 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
- No Dogs or Pets: To ensure a safe and predictable environment for all runners, dogs and other pets are not allowed on the course at this time.
- Allergen Notice: Complimentary snacks may be provided at my own risk. The Released Parties cannot guarantee they are free from allergens.
4. Medical Treatment: In the event of illness or injury, I authorize Event officials to secure medical treatment deemed necessary for my immediate care. I agree to be responsible for all costs associated with such medical services, treatment, or transport.
5. Photo & Media Release: I grant permission to the Athlete Care Association, Event organizers, and their authorized volunteers to use my name and image in photographs, videos, and digital albums (e.g., Google Photos) for legitimate promotional and community purposes.
6. Consent: By submitting this digital entry, I acknowledge that I have read and understood this waiver. If I am signing for a minor, I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the participant and have the authority to sign on their behalf.
