Charity Partners

Potterville is commonly known for its supportive characteristics, connected community and the annual Gizzard Festival.  Due to the historic community involvement, it has created the City of Helping hands identity. Therefore, the City of Helping hands continues by giving back and supporting our local communities.  This year, Another Clucking 5K is expanding our charity partners to three amazing programs: Canines for Change, Potterville High School Track & Cross Country teams, and CASA for Kids, Inc. of Barry, Eaton, and Ingham counties.

CANINES FOR CHANGE

A long-standing charity partner that will continue to be supported as we love our four legged friends and what this organization embodies.  This local organization was originally founded in Grand Ledge, MI, now located in Dimondale, MI and has been providing service dogs to our community and veterans.  Over the years, they have successfully trained and placed diabetic alert dogs, seizure alert dogs, mobility assistance dogs, autism assistance dogs, and facility dogs for school districts.  Participants will have a chance to meet some of the trainers and dogs at the race. We are hoping to have some of the new puppies there as well.

Mission Statement: Canines for Change provides highly trained service and facility dogs that enhance the lives of children and adults with disabilities by empowering them to achieve active and independent lifestyles while also educating the community on the benefits of facility and service dogs through community education and outreach.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why has the registration fee increased for 2026?

Transparency is important and participants deserve to be informed. Our goal is to maintain an affordable race entry fee for both competitive and casual participants. However, due to rising costs that have been exhibited in recent years, increasing the entry fee will help offset increased expenses. Race expenses include participant t-shirts, medals, trophies, awards, refreshments/rehydration, and other miscellaneous cost.

Additionally, the entry fee has historically been below other local races. By increasing the price, it aligns with race industry standards. Similarly, majority of races include charity partners where a portion of revenue proceeds are donated. Like 2025, we look forward to continuing to work with our charity partners and supporting amazing local organizations. We also appreciate your support!

2. What are expected changes for 2026?

There are several enhancements we are expecting to implement for 2026. We are enthusiastic about obtaining additional sponsors to help support the race and our charity partners. We are hopeful to add race day activities for participants to partake in before and after the race. Additionally, overall and age groups are to be expanded, while providing more awards. More information will be shared in early 2026.

3. Will there be a new race route in 2026?

As the 2026 race approaches, the race route will be reviewed. In 2025, various feedback was provided to further enhance the participants experience and options are being considered.

4. What can I expect after the race?

For 2026, race participants will be awarded finisher packets. Finisher packets will include medals, granola bars, water, chocolate milk, electrolytes and more. We are looking to expand the racer experience by finding fun, exciting, and beneficial items for participants. Additionally, we hope to expand awards that goes beyond first place in each age group.

5. Where can I park on race day?

Parking will likely be busy on race day as Gizzard Fest will be up and swinging. There are several events during the 5K which include classic car show, pancake breakfast fundraiser, line dancing and more. More parking information will be provided as the race route is finalized and Gizzard Fest approaches.

This section will be regularly updated for the most FAQs.
