I have never been considered disabled and therefore I cannot fully appreciate the challenges for those who have severe conditions such as partial or total blindness. I do, however, have very strong myopia (-9 diopters) so I can absolutely appreciate what it is like to be without glasses or contacts and feel helpless with no clear visual reference.
My friend Mike Castle is someone I respect and admire for his particular story, having been a marathonian in the 1996 Para-Olympic Games and having run innumerable marathons over the past few decades. I have the privilege of running with him (well, usually several paces behind him to be honest) and he told me about this worthy cause.
I have only run one marathon back in 2010 but had knee issues afterward. I now run 3-4 times a week and will run in April to try and raise some money for this worthy cause. Will you chip in an help those with visual challenges?
