I avoided upgrading my flip phone to a smartphone for as long as I could. Several years in fact. This is not because I hate technology, quite the opposite in fact. I knew how I would act with a device like that in my pocket all the time. And when I finally did get one, I was right. I'm often one of those digital zombies we all see, staring at a backlit screen trying to connect to... something.
In order to achieve some kind of balance, I've recently made it a goal to become more of an outdoorsmen and connect with the world in front of me. I've dedicated a decent amount of my resources to acquiring the basic knowledge and gear necessary to safely participate in the fantastic, fulfilling activity but not of that means anything if my body isn't up to the task. And even that is irrelevant if there's not a place to do it.
Please join me and Backcountry Hunters and Anglers as I bike, run and hike my way in support of a better life with public lands and waters.
