Lake Minnetonka is a Mdewakantonwan Dakota word which means “Big Water”; the name Wai Nani pays tribute to paddleboarding’s Polynesian origin. Wai Nani, pronounced why-na-nee, means “beautiful water” in Hawaiian. Our vision is to bring like-minded people together to experience the of wandering the beautiful big water.
In the spring of 2019, long-time Wayzata residents the Mullin’s purchased Wai Nani Surf and Paddle in part to showcase the best our hometown of Wayzata has to offer on Lake Minnetonka.
We operate Wai Nani as a family business. This is our 14th Season with Murphy Lawrence and Emma Konezny leading the Wai Nani Crew this summer. We hope to continue providing exemplary paddle and pedal experiences on Lake Minnetonka for years to come.
