Mental illness has been in the news a lot lately...in connection with some pretty horrific crimes. Life can be hard, dealing with mental health issues can be overwhelming – but many, many persons struggle with mental health/illness issues every day, and they DON'T commit crimes, they don't destroy lives. Often they are barely hanging on inside. Help is available, but it can be really scary to ask for it, to even admit that we're struggling. What will people think...what do I think? Why can't I just get it all together?
In support and honor of each and every person who struggles with mental illness, I want to help raise funds and support for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) once again. Mental illness is not always visible on the outside, but it is no less real & scary & life altering, and people need to know that it is OKAY to need help and okay to ask for help. NAMI has always fought to remove any stigma associated with mental illness. They provide information, advocacy, education & support so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. They are also an excellent resource to other resources. If you don't know what to do or where to go, NAMI is a great place to find some direction.
If you agree, please consider donating to support NAMI and its work. It WILL make a difference. Thank you for reading this & for considering donating to help bring help and wholeness to lives. And please, please know that YOU ARE WORTH LETTING YOURSELF REACH OUT. You DO matter in this world and nothing, no one is allowed to take that from you.
