I got into stair climbing during the pandemic lockdowns in 2020. When gyms and communal spaces were closed, I started exercising in the stairwell of my 32-story apartment building, to stay fit and stay sane in the dead of a New York winter.
Post-pandemic, I just kept taking the stairs...18 stories to my apartment most days, whether fetching the laundry or returning home from work. All those workouts culminated in my first stair climb, the Empire State Run-Up, in 2023, where I completed 86 flights in under 30 minutes!
Running stairs made me physically and mentally stronger, and motivated me to push myself beyond my perceived limits in all aspects of my life.
Today, I partner in my work with FDNY to support agency effectiveness and evolve the skills of the first responder workforce, and I'm excited to take on this challenge to support the professionals who push themselves to the limit every day to keep our community safe and leap into action when disaster strikes.
We RISE together - and I hope you'll support me this spring - either through sponsorship, or even a training climb (if you're interested!)
