Athens Police Department is dedicated to the service of our residents, local businesses, and visitors. Chief Anthony Pressnell leads a department of 52 sworn officers, 8 dispatchers, 3 administrative staff, and up to 20 reserve officers. Since crime prevention is our first priority, officers vigorously patrol neighborhoods and business districts 24 hours each day. Some of the many services provided by Athens Police Department include residence checks while homeowners are out of town, traffic enforcement, criminal investigation, and traffic control for special events.
