Ursula and Frankie are my babies. Furry and four legged, but my babies.
Frankie has been with me since 2017. He was this palm size puppy with big brown eyes that melted by heart as he was handed to me. I hadn't planned on getting a dog, but fate brought the two of us together. I immediately knew his name too; Francis Elvis, aka Frankie.
Ursula joined our family in 2019. I had been with Homeward Pet for almost a year. I was in a meeting when Karin, our Clinic Manager, told me that there were a couple litters of puppies in the clinic and that I should stop in to see them. And there she was. Sitting up in the first kennel. A little mate curled up beside her. She looked at me, and I knew her name too. I text my partner a picture. I said "This is Ursula. She's coming home with me." We all fell in love with her quickly. Especially Frankie. He adored his little sister. Our family was complete.
I've had dogs and cats in my life for as long as I remember. They have been my "siblings," my friends, my comfort and my confidante. They have always provided me and my children comfort. They bring laughter and joy. Their little paws forever in my heart. Their family.
Getting pets and their people together is what Homeward Pet has been doing for 34 years. Keeping pets with their family is an ever growing priority. Hundreds of people every year reach out to us needing to surrender their pets for many, many reasons; most that are beyond their control. Homeward Pet helps where we can but their so much more we want to do.
But I'm not asking you to donate to my fundraiser to just support Homeward Pet. I am asking you to donate to honor and memorialize the furry family members in your life. You know how much they have meant to you. Imagine the love a family will give to a dog or cat they find at Homeward Pet. The love that dog or cat will give to their family.
