How can you help us change the conversation about epilepsy and seizures? People with epilepsy have to live with seizures in a world that does not completely understand this debilitating, chronic disease. Empowering Epilepsy was founded by people living with epilepsy to help people live well with seizures outside of their epileptologist's office. While 1 in 10 people will experience a seizure in their lifetime, and 1 in 26 will be diagnosed with epilepsy in their lifetime:

The general public is rarely educated about the over 40 different types of seizures and syndromes.
They do not know how to help when a seizure takes place. 
Seizures are often mistaken for intoxication or drug use.
While we are on prescribed medications, we often have to deal with debilitating side effects. 
If our seizures are not controlled, we lose our independence, our jobs, and end up feeling isolated and alone.
