RRCA Certified Running Coach
CPR/First Aid Certified
Favorite distance– Half Marathon: It is long enough that you get to enjoy the views, but not so long that you are hitting the painful point that longer races bring.
Why you wanted to become a coach- I have always loved being able to help others and I also love being around others who love running. When I started coaching at the high school level and I got to see my first athlete hit a huge PR goal she was pushing for years, I knew coaching was what I wanted to do. Not even my own PRs beat the feeling of watching an athlete you work with finally hit the goal they have been working towards!
Favorite runners– Dawn White- She shows how running can change your life. Christine Rockey- She shows me how lifelong running can make you a healthy and happy person and what hard work can do throughout your life. Amy Haas- She shows how you can reach for a huge goal, and succeed, and become a better person along the way.
Favorite quote- “Every step no matter how small, adds up to big results.” and "In any race you run, even if you come in last place, you still beat 7.8 Billion people who did not even show up" Let's Run Fit Podcast
Why it is important to train with a coach– A coach is someone in your life who can see your training and races and be unbiased, this unbiased person can push you to places that your mind tells you that you cannot go. A coach is someone who believes in you even when you do not believe in yourself.
Other hobbies– Podcasting, writing, and watching TV
Family/pets– Husband-James, Two Doggos: Joy and Bean
Favorite race– Charleston Half Marathon
Hardest part of training– For me and many others, is keeping consistency when life gets crazy.
Some random facts about me- I have been in sports since I was 6 years old. I found running as a sport later in life and never looked back. I have run 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons. I am wanting to run my first full marathon in the next couple years.
Other facts- I am also a teacher as my day job. I love the pool more than the beach. I have watched the same 6 TV shows on repeat since 2005. I enjoy theme parks, and going home to Clayton, NC to see my family. Fun fact for me is that I was a Stilt Walker for Margaritaville in the past and that I have written a YA novel before and I am wanting to write another within a different genre in the next few years.
Favorite sayings- One run can change your day. Many runs can change your life. “The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.” – John Bingham
