One of the most touching things our then 8-year-old daughter Nora told us after her first Camp Sweeney session was "Mommy, everyone was just like me.”
Nora, now 9, has been living with T1D since she was 18 months old. She’s had her share of finger sticks, site changes, highs, lows, and everything in between. While T1D isn’t new to us (I was diagnosed when I was 11), and her friends are incredibly supportive, Nora has always felt different.
Camp Sweeney changed all that in a few short weeks by showing her she’s not alone and that, even with the challenges of managing this chronic disease, she’s capable of anything.
