When does the Patriot Run virtual race take place?

Participants are encouraged to run the 5K or 10 Miler between September 1-12.  There is no specific location, just run, walk, or jog during the event dates. It’s your race at your pace.

We hope that you will join us for the Patriot Run Festival on Saturday, September 12 on the estate. This optional, socially distanced event will be an opportunity for participants to celebrate their run, pick up their participant t-shirt and medal and enjoy the beautiful grounds of Mount Vernon!

Due to COVID-19, Mount Vernon will continue to adhere to the guidelines and safety protocols as set forth by the Governor of Virginia. Mount Vernon reserves the right to cancel the Patriot Run Festival for the safety of staff and guests. The rain date for the Patriot Run Festival is Sunday, September 13.

 

How should I select my route?

Find the best and safest route near you for your 5K or 10 Miler that allows you to enjoy your run and remain socially distanced from others.

 

Do I need to show proof that I completed the 5K/10 Miler or send in my finish time?

We know that you are person or honor and character, so we require no proof of completion. However, we would love to see you share your running experience and time with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with #GWPatriotRun!

 

Will I get a finisher’s medal?


Yes, all 5K and 10 Miler participants receive a commemorative George Washington finisher’s medal after they cross the finish line. Wear it proudly; you earned it!

 

I signed up to have my participant t-shirt and medal mailed. When will I get it?

All participant t-shirts and medals will be mailed the week of Monday, September 14.

 

Will there be a Kids Fun Run in 2020?

Unfortunately, no. We plan to host it again in 2021! 

 

I’d like to attend the Patriot Run Festival on Saturday, September 12. Do I pay to enter the estate? What about my friends or family?


All participants may enter the estate for free between 9am and 12pm on Saturday, September 12 to attend the Patriot Run Festival and pick up their t-shirt and medal. For any guests attending, discounted admission tickets can be purchased here. Discounted admission ticket prices are as follows: $12 for people ages 12 and older, $7 for kids 6 to 11, and free for kids 5 and under.

Mount Vernon members may enter the estate free of charge upon showing their membership card at entrance.

 

Does the Patriot Run virtual event offer discounts for public safety personnel; including our dedicated military members?


Yes, all active public safety personnel including police, fire, EMTs, and members of the military (including veterans) receive a $5 discount off the entry fee as our token of appreciation. Please contact Mount Vernon’s Office of Events & Protocol at events@mountvernon.org for questions.

 

Can I make changes to my registration?


Yes, to make changes to your registration, please log into your Run Signup account, select 2020 Virtual George Washington Patriot Run under Upcoming Events and then click "Manage Registration". This includes changing between events and deferring to 2021. Refunds are not allowed for this race.

All changes must be completed by August 5. Some fees may apply.
