Dear Family and Friends,
I’m honored to share that I’ll be participating in Heat It To Beat It 2026, an inspiring event that supports the incredible work of the Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy Medical Center.
This cause is especially close to my heart. In the summer of 2015, my mom, Cione Johnson, was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. Within just two weeks of her diagnosis, she underwent HIPEC surgery and began an incredibly courageous fight against this disease. Through it all, she showed remarkable strength, resilience, and grace. After a long and hard-fought battle, we lost her in December 2019.
This past December, Lonnie—her husband, best friend, and devoted partner throughout her journey—joined her in heaven. Their love, strength, and unwavering spirit continue to inspire me every day, and participating in this event is one meaningful way I can honor their memory.
I’m proud to help raise funds that directly support cancer patients, their families, and the compassionate care teams who make such a profound difference every day. The work being done at Mercy brings hope, healing, and life-changing support to so many families facing cancer.
If you’re able to contribute, I would truly appreciate your support. Every donation—no matter the amount—helps advance cancer care and provides comfort and hope to those who need it most.
Making a donation is quick and easy through this page, and all contributions are tax-deductible. You can also learn more about the event and its mission at www.heatit.org.
Thank you so much for your kindness, encouragement, and support. It means more than words can express, and I look forward to sharing updates along the way.
With gratitude,
Monica
