Good Samaritans of Garland, known locally as “Good Sam,” has been serving neighbors in need since 1983. What began as a collaboration among local faith communities has grown into a vital resource for individuals and families facing food insecurity across Garland and all of Dallas County.
Today, Good Sam provides nutritious food to anyone in need — with no residency or income requirements — ensuring that access to food remains simple, welcoming, and barrier-free. Through partnerships with the North Texas Food Bank, local retailers, and generous community support, we are able to provide supplemental food assistance to our neighbors in need.
We understand that the need for assistance looks different for everyone. For some, it’s a one-time emergency; for others, it’s part of navigating longer-term challenges such as job loss, illness, or rising living costs. No matter the circumstance, we are here to meet our neighbors where they are.
At Good Sam, how we serve matters just as much as what we provide. Every guest is welcomed with dignity, kindness, and respect in a judgment-free environment. As we continue to grow, we are expanding our space and partnerships to better serve our community — not only through food assistance, but by connecting neighbors to additional resources that support long-term stability.
We believe it’s about more than food — it’s about caring for people, strengthening community, and offering hope when it’s needed most.
