KEYS100 Ultramarathon

Thank you for joining me in the fight against cancer.  This disease has impacted all of us, in some way or another - each and every day.   This year, I am running the Keys 100-mile Ultra Marathon to fundraise in honor of my incredible brother (in-law) Sean Hughes.   Sean and I first met in the fall of 1985 when he gave me rides home after football practice.  We have been family since 1993 when I married his beautiful sister. Sean was a veteran, a police officer, a schoolteacher, and a football coach.  He was always serving others.  Meanwhile, he battled Renal Metastatic Carcinoma for over 8 years before finally succumbing to it in October 2023.  I am honored to have spent a few days with Sean the week he died this past year.   He was such a warrior. Never bitter in his struggle; always happy and joyful - no matter the odds, just like the photos above in the slide show illustrate him. (Please take a second and view through them).   I cannot attempt to capture in any amount of words what a wonderful human Sean was.  But if I had a son, or a son-in-law, I would want them to emulate Sean’s daily happy attitude and happy, giving heart. That is how awesome Sean was.  Therefore, I am honored to have you partner with me to raise funds in Sean’s memory for “The Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys, Inc." This noble foundation is an all-volunteer based organization dedicated to helping cancer patients while they are in treatment for their disease.  They pay the rent, mortgage, utilities, and other daily living expenses during this trying time for cancer patients, and they are not affiliated with any national organization that raises money for cancer.  One hundred percent of what you donate stays locally in the Florida Keys.  I repeat; “100% OF YOUR DONATION STAYS LOCAL”.  Please consider donating today in honor of Sean, or in memory of your loved one, friend, or colleague that impacted you and your family as Sean impacted my family for almost 40 years.  Thank you, Semper Fi and God bless.
