Power 90.5 is the broadcast service of Western Carolina University and serves the Jackson and Haywood County region of Western North Carolina, located between the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains. Western signed on its first radio station 70 years ago in 1948.

The station’s studios are located in the historic Old Student Union building on the Western Carolina University campus. Although the station maintains a classic rock format, on the weekends and after 6 p.m. it becomes home to a variety of specialty shows hosted by students, faculty, and staff.

Power 90.5 is a non-commercial radio station operated by volunteers from the student body, faculty, and staff.
