Expressive and Mindful Art uses art-making as a means of self-reflection, expression and exploration; which can lead to increased self-esteem and personal empowerment. The art facilitator will guide clients in using art materials to explore their thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
Some people may feel uncomfortable discussing their thoughts and feelings, and they may prefer to avoid verbal communication altogether. It may be easier to express difficult or distressing emotions through art, rather than through verbal communication. Expressive Art can be a way to explore and process emotions.
There is no need to have any prior art experience or skills to benefit from expressive and mindful art. The focus is on the process of creating, not the final product. The artwork doesn't need to be beautiful or good because it doesn't matter. Expressive and Mindful Art encourages each person to express themselves freely artistically, without fear of criticism or evaluation.
