The Wilderness Society is a national nonprofit whose mission is to unite people to protect America’s public lands.

The Wilderness Society believes everyone should have access to nature and the benefits it provides. But right now, there are millions of people across the United States who don’t have access to any green space because of barriers like the lack of nearby quality parks, limited or nonexistent transit options and costly park entrance fees. And these barriers disproportionately affect people of color and those in low-income areas.

The Wilderness Society is advocating for local, state and federal policies that protect open space; create and improve accessible neighborhood parks; and encourage stewardship of public lands and wild places near urban centers. All people, of every race, gender, immigration status, physical ability or income level, should have access to nature.
