In February 2021, John was diagnosed with limb-onset ALS. That’s when we learned of The Brigance Brigade’s programs and began supporting their efforts. We were fortunate to have received a grant from BBF that helped fund needed equipment, allowing John to continue some semblance of normal living at our home in Maryland as his muscles gave out, requiring greater dependence on others.
Even after moving to North Carolina in 2022 and John’s passing in April 2024, the family continues to support The Brigance Brigade. We know firsthand the benefits of the support and grants offered by BBF to reduce the financial strain felt by those living with ALS and their caregivers.
We remember John for the amazing son, brother, husband, father, friend, and coworker he was. John was a man of integrity and faith, with a strong commitment to his family, dedication to the mission of his career, a great sense of humor, and unwavering support for his favorite sports teams. John loved participating in the Brigance Brigade Foundation's walk and we would be honored to have your support as we in turn honor John and support BBF's mission to equip, encourage, and empower those with ALS.
We appreciate your continued support by joining us at the Maryland Zoo on April 26, 2025, or by donating to one of the team members.
Thanks for joining my team as we work together to fight ALS!
