Located in the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District in Kansas City, MO, the American Jazz Museum showcases the sights and sounds of jazz through interactive exhibits and films, the Changing Gallery exhibit space, Horace M. Peterson III Visitors Center, Blue Room jazz club and Gem Theater. Each year the American Jazz Museum engages over 32,000 kids through hands-on performances, jam sessions, storytelling, clinics, poetry, tours, and outreach. They invest in 1,745 musicians, with 208 performances annually. They provide over 40 small, local businesses the opportunity to grow their commerce through First Fridays, and have a $1.2million dollar economic impact annually. These community-centered events provide an opportunity to learn about the legends, honor their legacy, or simply enjoy the sounds of modern day jazz.
