On Saturday, October 18th, Plymouth Rock will be a sponsor for the Mary's Place by the Sea 14th Annual Walk-A-Thon and 7th Annual 5k Run in Ocean Grove. Plymouth Rock employees will walk in memory of Diane Dorsi, a much-valued and loved Claims Director and friend to many, who passed away from Metastatic Breast cancer on April 18, 2023. Diane began her career in 1981 at Prudential Property & Casualty Insurance Company, which later became Plymouth Rock. She retired from Plymouth Rock in 2019 after almost 39 years of service, due to her illness.
Diane is remembered as someone who was generous, intelligent, dedicated, and successful. Diane’s work ethic was an inspiration to many. Diane’s professionalism was only exceeded by her thoughtfulness and kindness. The support, encouragement, love and friendship displayed by her colleagues at Plymouth Rock, as she fought the toughest fight of her life, truly warmed her heart.
During her illness, Diane stayed at Mary’s Place by the Sea, which is a respite home for women who are receiving treatment for cancer. They provide services to women, both in-person and virtually, that complement their medical treatment. Services include oncology massage, nutrition education, individual counseling, Reiki, guided meditation, expressive writing, yoga and more. Mary’s Place by the Sea is not a medical facility with medical staff. They offer integrative services to women with cancer and provide rest and support during this challenging time in their lives. They are empowered with knowledge that will aid them on their road to healing.
Founded in 2009, Mary’s Place by the Sea has served over 16,000 women with cancer. This year their goal is to raise $200,000. Proceeds from this event allow their guests to hit the pause button and take part in restorative services for their mind, body and soul. While in their care, guests receive all integrative services, meals, and accommodations at absolutely NO COST, thanks in part to fundraisers such as this.
