NAMI Greater Houston founded in 1988. Our mission is to provide education, advocacy, support, public awareness so all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. The year 2020 with its Global Pandemic has brought unforeseen challenges and it has compelled us to innovate our operational norms. Our mantra for 2020 became Survive, Thrive, and Revive so we could continue to reach the communities that depend on us. We converted our person-to-person classes to virtual classes and delivered 16 education programs, converted our in person support group to virtual and delivered 21 Family and Peer support groups, expanded a warm line with 16 trained specialists with a capacity to handle 800 calls a week and delivered programs and advocacy sessions to over 1,050 people.
