This week – Friday, November 25th, we will be holding a Charitable Friday to support the Children’s Bereavement Center (CBC). The Children’s Bereavement Center serves the community by providing support to grieving families after loss. Some of our Citrin Cooperman colleagues will be running the Miami ½ Marathon in January and need our help in raising money for this cause.
The Children’s Bereavement Center is a non-profit agency located in Miami, Florida founded in 1999. The Children's Bereavement Center provides free Peer Support Groups for children, young adults, and adult caregivers after the death of a loved one. Groups are open to anyone who has lost a parent, sibling, grandparent, relative, or friend as a result of illness, accident, etc. CBC’s mission is to empower children, young adults, and their families to adjust to life after the loss of a loved one within a supportive community of their peers to promote healthful grief, healing, and growth.
In Florida, 1 out of every 12 children lose a parent or sibling. In South Florida alone, there have been over 22,873 deaths due to COVID-19. Grief affects our mental health and having the ability to rely on the CBC for peer support is crucial to the well-being of our patients.
