J&J Design, LLC is a family owned and operated design firm which began in early 2009. Since its inception, our company has prided itself on providing quality, professional engineering, planning, drafting, kitchen & bath design and consulting services to our clients. Company operation began in the City of Philadelphia and quickly expanded into the tri-state area with design projects in PA, NJ, DE, MD and NY. We strive to treat each client with dignity and respect throughout the duration of their projects.
We began providing engineering and design services in the residential field and quickly expanded into commercial design. Our company has provided many structural engineering designs for not only steel and concrete, but also wood framing and lateral wind design. We excel in providing our clients with full service design documents for simple building rehabilitation to new buildings and structures. We have over 10 years of experience helping contractors and homeowners apply and receive both zoning and building permits We provided consulting to larger engineering firms and have also conducted and prepared over 300 forensic engineering inspections and analysis reports for both homeowners and insurance companies. We pride ourselves on maintaining an honest and open-minded opinion focusing on fact and discovery above all else.
Our kitchen & bath design and sales services recently began as we developed a partnership with a local distributor. Our designer has over 9 years of kitchen & bath design experience, and can provide a comprehensive design to accommodate our client's needs, desires and budgets. We can offer design and sales to match any budget ranging from contractor grade to semi-custom, top quality name brands. Who Is J & J Design, LLC
J&J Design, LLC was started by the husband and wife team of Mark and Jessica Jakatt. Their goal when creating the company was to create a design firm small enough, yet skilled enough that everyone could use and afford their engineering and design services. J&J Design, LLC is a small firm with few employees, but has a very large network of subcontractors and professionals at its disposal to virtually guarantee that any design service their clients require can be accomplished. This type of business model makes the firm free of the large overhead most companies carry allowing them to pass this savings over to clients.
Jessica graduated from The Art Institute of Philadelphia in late 2005 with a Bachelor's of Science in Interior Design and a Master's Degree from Dexel University. From the very beginning of her academic career, she excelled in her ability to provide visually stunning designs while maintaining use and form of the space. She quickly gained notoriety from her professors and fellow students. When she graduated, she was widely considered one of the top designers in her graduating class. After graduating, she began working as a kitchen designer in the Philadelphia area. Not long after she began, she became one of the top designers in the firm, and was trusted with the larger, more extensive and intricate designs.
Mark graduated from Drexel University in early 2005 with a Bachelor's of Science in Architectural Engineering. This degree program required its students to be well versed in many different aspects of building and structure engineering, while allowing the students to focus their techniques in a certain direction. Mark focused his studies towards structural engineering. After graduating, he began working for a fortune 500 residential builder and remained employed with them until early 2009 when he decided to start his own firm. Coincidentally, this was also the time when Mark and Jessica were expecting their first child. Starting J&J Design, LLC gave Mark and Jessica the unparalleled opportunity to both pursue their careers and be present and available throughout the lives of their children. Since the start of the company, Mark and Jessica's devotion to their clients has only been trumped by their devotion to their family.
