I grew up wearing a Plast scouting uniform. Scouting has been a lifelong touchstone for me, and I am raising money for the Boston Chapter of Plast Ukraining Scouting Organization so that refugee scouts fleeing war in Ukraine can experience the same incredible environment as they adjust to life far from home.
Our goal of $4,000 will support 6 refugee scouts in our Boston chapter - providing to cover campsite registration fees, food costs, transportation, and uniforms, and to provide essential camping gear such as sleeping bags and backpacks for those who would otherwise be unable to participate. As we are a fully volunteer organization, 100% of any donated funds go directly towards our scouts.
Our Plast Boston scouting program helps build self-confidence, resiliency, and community through outdoor adventure and cultural education. During the school year we hold troop meetings where scouts earn merit badges and practice outdoor skills. Younger cub scouts enjoy a day-long field trip such as ice skating. Older scouts plan and participate in two multi-day excursions - an annual spring outing and a fall hiking trip. We travel to camp sites across New England for hiking and orienteering while fostering personal responsibility and leadership.
