Way back in 2019, I took an official visit to UVA & was introduced to Run Your City, an amazing nonprofit dedicated to providing free, accessible running programs for kids in Charlottesville. I loved the idea but ended up committing to Tennessee instead (GO VOLS).
Last year, I was contacted about starting local chapter, RYC Knoxville, and in our first season served 150+ kids, rallied 40+ volunteers, & provided a weekly hot meal for all families that came through our 6 week program. Run Your City removes barriers to sports participation -- whether financial, social, or ability-based -- and pairs young runners with collegiate athlete mentors to foster confidence, resilience, and joy.
