On this day we will run in honor of my mother JoAnn (Grandma Jo). She fought an immense battle for 2 years but sadly went home August of 2020. She was still here the year we did our first run with MIOCA and she was extremly moved that day... I plan to continue to participate in her honor every year.
Mothers day weekend has always been extra special to my mother JoAnn and I as her birthday is May 13th and mine May 11th. We have always celebrated each other this weekend and I am very appreciative of MIOCA for organizing this race every year as it it's now my favorite way to celebrate her life.
The work that MIOCA does creating a community and spreading awareness for earlier detection is something i am passionate about supporting.
