Hello!
I have joined the I Can And I Will Run Guild as their treasurer. This guild puts on a run that takes place at Greenlake this year on October 20 and supports the uncompensated care fund at Children's Hospital. I have been inspired to take a more active role in this guild by my dear friends and creators of the run/guild Josh & Alisa Vitello and their kids Olivia and Oscar. I have known Josh and Alisa since childhood. Their efforts channel a deeply challenging reality into a powerful community event that aims to ensure no parent has to worry about finances when they have a sick child.
I CAN. AND I WILL. is the positive mantra that inspires Olivia Vitello every day. Olivia has a rare genetic disorder called Morquio that requires her to get weekly infusions for the rest of her life and this mantra has helped her cope with this process. She is fortunate to have insurance to cover for most of her medical bills however there are many children served by Seattle Children’s Hospital whose medical care is not fully covered by insurance. Olivia’s spirit and determination inspired her family and friends to find a way to give back to Seattle Children’s and the patients and families it serves.
