What’s up everyone?  Matt Creekmuir here with Boston MedFlight.  Yeah, they hired me and haven’t fired me yet, so that’s cool.  I’m a prior Infantry Marine (Sgt./Squad Leader that did some cool guy stuff), former Independent Contractor overseas, now a Paramedic/Lieutenant on a RI Fire Dept. as well as an FP-C with Boston MedFlight.  This event is important and this year is big for the MedFlight team.  We recently suffered a tragic loss of one of our own and our team showing is in full support of Justin Powers, NRP, FP-C.  I literally hate asking for charity or money or donations and would rather just donate it all out of my own pocket and kindness of my heart, but I’m going to ask because I can suck up the pride and realize the cause is so great.  The charity donations here are going in full support of an organization that supports and provides care for all first responders (Fire/EMS/LEO/and Mil) suffering from issues related to critical incident stress as well as the stress of our daily lives when coming home from putting in real work.  All of us have battles that we fight and have very few people, if any, with whom we can talk to that can comprehend what it is we see or do (sometimes several times a day), or be in a position to help.  Demons do exist and wars exist that no one ever knows about.  No one should fight any of these battles alone and I am proud this time to ask for any donations.  My original goal was $300.  Then $301 because I am an over-achiever at BMF.  Then it was 556, and maybe soon 762.  Hopefully the final will be more than that.  However, on behalf of Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics (the CFRNs too…), Boston MedFlight, as well as everyone who relates, I’m going to crush this because of the support and will make it my goal to continue fighting that fight for everyone in “our world.”  You aren’t alone and while this is a great fundraiser and just a fitness event like a race, it is way deeper.  Semper Fidelis!
