North Star Reach is a camp in Pinckney, MI that provides transformative camp experiences for children with serious health challenges and their families – free of charge. Located on 105 wooded acres and surrounded by freshwater lakes, sandy beaches, and rolling hills, North Star Reach is the only camp of its kind serving children with serious health challenges and their families across the Great Lakes Region. As part of the SeriousFun Children's Network, North Star Reach gives these children safe, medically-sound, fun-filled camp experiences that build confidence and foster joy.
Early last year, like many organizations around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted our programs. In the past year, we have expanded to offer year-round whole-family centered programming, with more robust social support resources for parents and caregivers. Through difficult decisions and hard times, a bright spot has emerged: Thanks to the creativity, resilience and resourcefulness of our community—including dedicated staff, volunteers, and donors—we have swiftly developed much-needed resources to support the entire family unit, as fighting serious illness impacts the whole family—mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially.
North Star Reach has served nearly 3,000 children and their family members since opening in 2016. Although there is never a charge to campers and their families, the cost of providing a medically-sound experience to this very special group of kids is estimated at about $2,500 each.
Your gift of any amount makes a difference and helps deliver the magic of camp, connection, community, and hope to more children and families.
