Description
The event will begin on March 21 with the virtual full distance events and will culminate on April 16.
March 21 will kick-off the challenge with a virtual marathon, half-marathon, 10K, and 5K. Participants can run on a course of their choice or on the traditional course which will have minimal markings but will be set up on RaceJoy for audio cues and fun inspiration along the way. While the race kicks off on March 21, you can participate any day of your choice through April 16.
March 21 will also be the start of the 26.2 Mile-A-Day Challenge. Everybody will run, walk, skip, trot, or saunter one mile each day and on the 27th day, we all join together to complete our "marathon" by running .2 together.
All participants are invited to participate in both the full virtual challenge on March 21 as well as the Mile-A-Day.
Not sure how far a mile actually is? It’s 1760 yards and it is also 5280 feet. That’s it! It is also just 4 laps around a track or the distance of The University of Michigan Stadium to Burton Tower.
Why are we so obsessed with the mile?
The mile is a distance we can all relate to. We've run it in gym class, we've traveled for miles, we've had miles to go, we've been told it's less than a mile away, and the list could go on. The mile is a magical distance and most anybody can run, jog, walk, or trot a mile a day!
