Why I am participating in the Heroes of Hope to Support the American Cancer Society? Well, there is one reason, Dan Anderson. A little backstory might help so here goes: I was working part time at Sam's at Club 6449 in Paducah, KY in 2019. I was trying to make some extra Christmas money in addition to my full time other job. I did anything and everything that they needed. I worked the entrance/exit doors, I pushed carts, I watered the plants, I was a cashier and worked the membership desk. I did not begin my Sam's journey thinking it was any more than a part time job. Throughout my time at Sam's, I asked for more responsibility or "hey, can you show me how to...", well I guess that caught the eye of my club manager, but there wasn't a place full time at the club for me unfortunately... that was true until Sam's jumped into Digital Sales. So I joined Sam’s full time as Digital Sales(Club Pickup/SFC) Team Lead and really just fell in love with the company and people.
It was during my 1st year that my CM introduced me to Dan and, to be honest, he made quite an impact on me and encouraged me to look into the MIT program. I did and with a ton of help and advice from leadership and associates, I was selected into MIT in July 2021. I attribute much of success on my leadership path to Dan, encouraging me to strive for excellence always, and I can’t thank him enough. So, if I can do my small part in any way to honor a hero who played a part in jump starting my career with Sam’s, I am all-in 100%. Thank you, Dan. I hope he knows what an impact he made on me!
