Story

The Fort Myers Track Club is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, established in 1978, that supports other local charitable organizations with the technical support in producing high-quality races and virtual events. The Fort Myers Track Club actively participates to help raise nearly $300,000 in funds each year that go to local charities. This year, the Fort Myers Track Club and our 3rd Annual Lazy Flamingo Half Marathon & 2-Person Relay have partnered with Hope Parkinson Program & Kimmie's Recovery Zone.  Net proceeds from this event will benefit each of our charitable partners.

Hope Parkinson Program

The Hope Parkinson Program works closely with like-minded community organizations to provide a network of resources and education for people affected by Parkinson's disease and related movement disorders. Since launching in 2009, the Hope Parkinson Program has enabled more than 3,000 people in Lee County to experience the fullness of life through knowledge, movement and fellowship. As a community service provided by Hope Healthcare, the program is offered at no charge to participants and care partners.

Kimmie's Recovery Zone

Kimmie's Recovery Zone is a recovery community organization (RCO), an independent, non-profit organization led and governed by representatives of local communities of recovery. These organizations facilitate recovery-focused policy advocacy activities, carry out recovery-focused community education and outreach programs, and/or provide peer-based recovery support services.

Kimmie’s Recovery Zone empowers and serves our community by providing multiple pathways of recovery support, designing wellness plans, public education, advocacy policies and resources to increase the quality of long-term recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.
