SSG Ricky Barraza Memorial "Virtual" 5K Run/2-Mile Honor Walk

This 2nd Annual 5K Memorial Run and 2 Mile Honor Walk in memory of Staff Sergeant Ricardo "Ricky" Barraza is now a virtual run! Run or walk where ever you are! Race dates are from 27 May- 14 June 2017.  If you live outside of Kern County, California your race packets will be mailed to you. Otherwise there will be a tshirt pickup date to be announced.   

I am also proud to announce that the race has found a new sponsor...Shafter American Legion Auxiliary Unit 213 has humbly accepted to become the new sponsor and rightfully so as an organization aimed at supporting Veterans.

Who is Ricardo "Ricky" Barraza?  He graduated from Shafter High in 1999 and shortly after graduation enlisted in the Army and became an Army Ranger.  After serving a total of six tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ricky paid the ultimate sacrifice and was tragically killed in Iraq on March 18, 2006.
