Magic City Theatre on Ice presents The Virtual Vertical 5k.

How to participate in our Virtual 5k and Fun Run?

  • Complete the race between now and 11:59PM CDT on May 2, 2020.
  • Run or walk indoors, on a treadmill, around your neighborhood or hit the trails. 

Rules for Competing in The Vertical 5k

  • Runners have 40 minutes to complete their  5k.
  • The objective is to complete the 5k and achieve the most vertical gain in the allotted time. 
  • Using your preferred running app (we recommend Strava), take a screenshot of your finish time and vertical gain.
    Post on Instagram and tag @magiccitytheatreonice #Vertical5k
    In the spirit of competition, post as many run times as you'd like until 11:59PM CDT on May 2, 2020.
  • Please observe COVID-19 precautions. Information can be found here at CDC website.

Rules for Fun Run

  • Everyone is invited. Run. Walk. Take your dog. Get out and move.
  • A first place medal will be given for best selfie that represents the theme of vertical height. Post on Instagram and tag @magiccitytheatreonice #Vertical5k
  • Please observe COVID-19 precautions. Information can be found here at CDC website.

First Place Awards will be given to the following Male and Female Divisions for the Vertical 5k:

  • Ages 0-12
  • Ages 13-19
  • Ages 20-39
  • Ages 40-100

About Us

The host of the race, Magic City Theatre on Ice, is a 501c3 non profit organization dedicated to elevating the creative arts on ice.  This race will benefit participating theatre on ice teams across the country that are slated to compete at the 2020 Theatre on Ice National Championships in Wichita, Kansas. Skaters that participate in theatre on ice benefit by being in an environment that builds their self esteem and gives them a sense of community. They learn about team work and develop communication skills. Theatre on Ice gives them the opportunity to perform in prestigious national and international competitions, perform in local exhibitions and ice shows, and enhance the arts in their respective communities.

Atlanta Ice Theatre

Atlanta Ice Theatre is proud to be the home for the only Theatre on Ice teams in the state of Georgia! Their team started in the summer of 2015. They are excited the be going to their fifth National Competition in June with an Intermediate Team and an Adult Team. In 2017, they won the award for Best Visual Effects at the National Competition.

Harmony Theatre Company

Harmony Theatre Company is the internationally acclaimed Theatre on Ice Team from Ice House Skate Academy. Their teams train in Hartland, Michigan. This past season their teams achieved:

  • Senior - Nations’ Cup Bronze Medalists and National Silver Medalists

  • Junior - National Silver Medalists

  • Novice - National Silver Medalists

  • Adult - Nations’ Cup Bronze Medalists and National Gold Medalist

  • Preliminary - National Bronze Medalists

Magic City Theatre on Ice

Magic City Theatre on Ice trains at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena and represents the Birmingham Figure Skating Club. They 2018 and 2019 National Champions in the Open Division and the 2019 National Silver Medalists in the Intermediate Division.

River City Ice Theatre

River City Ice Theatre is a 501c3 non profit organization founded in 2010. They were the first theatre on ice team in Indiana. Their teams train at the Swonder Ice Arena in Evansville, Indiana. In 2017 they hosted the National Theatre On Ice Competition and received a national award for Economic Impact in Sports Tourism. In 2012, River City Ice Theatre won an for award for Best Original Story in the Junior Division. They were the 2016 National Bronze medalists in the Open division and the 2017 National Silver medalists in the Open Division.
