On Saturday morning, December 12, 2015 you have the opportunity to not only better yourself, but also to better the lives of children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, all the while decking yourself out in your most festive holiday attire! Join The Arc of Jefferson County at Heardmont Park for The Decked Out Dash, a jolly 5K/1 mile fun run benefiting people with disabilities. 5K racers will begin dashing, dancing, and prancing towards the finish line promptly at 8 a.m. The fun run will begin shortly after.
After your amazing feedback last year on our Kid’s Activity Area, the reindeer games, and the Happy Feet inflatable, we have decided to expand the area into a a jolly holiday carnival! This year’s Decked Out Dash will include the 5K/1 mile fun run you love plus tents filled with holiday activities for children and families to enjoy. Santa will return for pictures, you will be able to write him a letter (provided you’re on the nice list), decorate a tasty cookie from The Arc’ Ability Baking Company, play even more reindeer games, have your face painted, make a special ornament to hang on your tree at home, jump in a holiday inflatable, sing karaoke from the main stage, and play in the snow (bold, but we have a feeling about the weather this day). Entrance to the holiday carnival is $10.
We will also have a tent on site serving a hot pancake breakfast to help warm you up!
Plan your outfit carefully as there will be a prize for most festive runner. Santa himself will sort through the elf ears, reindeer antlers, strands of garland, Christmas lights, tacky holiday sweaters, and candy cane tights.
Pre-register for the 5K/1 mile fun run for $25 prior to November 12, 2015. Fees increase to $40 for the 5K after the 12th.
