The fall training session will focus on running and strength training while maintaining swimming skills. We will be logging miles for the Rocket City Kids Marathon that will take place on December 13.
We train Monday thru Friday, (but participants do not need to attend all five days a week). There are two time slots to choose from 3:30-5:30 or 5:30-7:30. The 3:30-5:30 time slot is for "confident' swimmers only. We will be swimming in the competition pool (it does not have a "shallow end"). Swim lessons will not be given in either time slot, but we might have the opportunity to work on refining the front crawl stroke.
Training will last about 90 minutes, the first 15 and last 15 are for the kids to change into/out of swim suit or workout clothes. Parents are asked to be there for pick up at 5:15 and 7:15. Participants are STRONGLY encouraged and incentivized to arrive to training on time.
Equipment requirements: Good running shoes that are not worn as every-day school shoes, swim suit, goggles, swim cap, helmet*, and water bottle. (*We will likely not be riding bikes but we will be practicing transitions. Once the groups are established we will discuss if bringing bikes to practice can work for everyone at least once a week.)
