Event Description

This is our first annual Race/Walk to bring awareness to community violence. We are urging the community to focus on health and healing in all forms (physical and emotional). What is unique about our race is our Why:

We are Breaking the Silence: It helps to break the silence and stigma surrounding domestic violence, encouraging open conversations and support for survivors.

  • Empowering Survivors: Breaking the silence allows survivors to speak out and seek assistance, knowing they are not alone and that supportive resources are available.
  • Preventing Abuse: Awareness prompts communities to extend support to survivors in meaningful ways, creating safe spaces and resource networks.
  • Preventing Abuse: Bringing awareness drives policy changes and resource allocation aimed at protecting individuals from domestic violence.
  • Breaking Stereotypes: Awareness challenges harmful stereotypes and cultural factors that contribute to the perpetuation of domestic violence.
  • By raising awareness, we can create a society that recognizes, responds to, and prevents domestic violence, ultimately contributing to a safer and more supportive community.
  • Domestic violence is often something that is hidden. Many people in abusive relationships may appear to be happy and healthy, usually “masking” their turmoil. They may feel ashamed and worried about judgment from others, be afraid to say anything out of fear of retaliation, or be conditioned by the abuse to not speak up about it.
  • We remember those who have succumbed to injuries stemming from domestic violence and gun violence.

The 5K and one-mile events signify a commitment to stomping out violence.

Your donation will help the Rising South Literacy School address various forms of violence.
