In our 60th year of service, Family Guidance Center of Alabama serves over 40,000 Alabama families annually through the following programs:

Counseling – Provide counseling assistance to children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
Healthy Parenting – Provide parenting education workshops to help parents enhance parenting skills and their relationships with their children.
Travelers Aid – Provide emergency assistance to individuals and families who have encountered a travel related crisis and are stranded.
Child Care Management Program – Manage child care subsidy program that provides assistance to families with child care expenses. Serves families in 41 counties.
Kids and Kin Program – Provides child care training and resources for family members who provide child care for relative’s children. Serves all 67 counties.
Success By 6 Program – Provides Pre-K classrooms for 3 and 4 year old children in order to enhance their development and their readiness for elementary school.
Senior Caregivers Program – Provides assistance and resources to grandparents and other senior adults who provide custodial care for children.
Child Care Education & Training Program – Provides training and resources for child care providers in 18 counties.
Working Matters Program - Helps participants overcome their specific employment barriers through volunteer work placement in community organizations and businesses. Helps participants build workplace skills and competencies that enable them to achieve greater self-reliance through gainful employment.
Work Ready! Program - Assists out-of-school young adults, 16-24 years of age, in attaining their employment goals through education, certificate training, work readiness skill-building, supportive services, and sustained, individualized case management.
First Teacher Home Visiting Program – Provides home visits to parents of children birth to 5 years of age. Focus of home visits is to enhance parents’ parenting skills and early childhood development knowledge.
Parenting Matters Program - Provides comprehensive services for fathers to help them to recognize and embrace their vital role in the well-being and safety of their children, including their role as financial provider for their children.
Family Service Center of Montgomery County
Family Service Center of Lowndes County
Family Service Center of Jefferson County
The agency provides comprehensive services for families in Montgomery, Lowndes, and Jefferson Counties through the family service center model. The centers are designed to strengthen families and protect children through the provision of a comprehensive array of services, including case management, life skills, employment readiness, and emergency services.
LIFT Program (Life is Fun Together!) – Provides relationship and marriage education through workshops, support, and library resources.
Small Wonders Program - A home visitation service that helps prevent child abuse and neglect by supporting parents who are raising a chronically ill or developmentally delayed child. Home visits explore effective parenting and assist parents in identifying and managing parental stress.
Coaching for Excellence in Employment Program – Statewide program designed to provide individuals with the needed support that allows them to take advantage of education and job training and to translate those new skills into improved family stability and financial self-reliance.
Families of the Year Awards Program – Annual awards program that recognizes outstanding families in the community through a nomination process and an awards ceremony. Montgomery area program has been held for 30 years. Program started in Birmingham area in 2017.
